Art is an expression of the spirit. It
gives me a way to record what I feel. I have lived in Colorado since childhood
and my work is based on my Colorado experiences. l am constantly amazed
at the diversity of the Colorado landscape. I am drawn to the mystery
of the Anasazi, the pioneer, the Hispanic influences of southern Colorado,
the majestic vistas of the eastern plains and the timeless sanctity of
the mountains. As an intuitive artist, painting on location allows me
to capture the spirit of the moment. The spontaneity available through
watercolors allows one to capture the changing patterns of light and shadow
which transform a landscape. The drama of light and shadow creates the
mood that I strive to share with my viewer. I include mankinds influence
in landscapes as I explore his relationship with nature.
