Guest Visual Artists

Music and the visual arts have always complemented each other. One thinks of such works as Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, Nat King Cole's Mona Lisa or the song Vincent (by Don McLean and also known as Starry, Starry Night) as examples of painting portrayed in music. Examples of music or musicians being portrayed in visual arts are, of course, manifold. And certainly both media are means whereby the human spirit expresses emotion, thought and creativity.

In December 2001, in recognition and celebration of these connections, the Columbine Chorale began its Guest Visual Artist program and, indeed, our first guest artist, Carol Reeves, exemplifies the interaction, as she employs as one of her techniques painting in watercolor on music scores.

Under our Guest Visual Artist program, the collaborating artist displays a selection of his or her works at a concert venue and the artist is featured in the concert program. We therefore invite you to visit our representative gallery of each of our guest artists. Naturally the representations here are limited in quality and color rendition, but we encourage you contact the artists for further information or to arrange a viewing.
