Interested in singing with us?
If you are a singer who is interested in auditioning for the Columbine Chorale, we encourage you to contact our Music Director, Brian Eichenberger by e-mail at email@example.com. At the moment we are seeking singers with quality voices in all voice parts. Even more importantly, we are looking for singers who are interested in a challenging experience, in participating in the performance of the world’s great choral literature and in joining in the enthusiasm and camaraderie that has always been part of the Columbine Chorale.
The audition will be focused on determining voice range and quality. Applicants will be asked to present a short classical piece or hymn – a piece that will show off the singer’s voice to its best advantage. In addition, the director will lead you through a series of exercises to determine your ability to follow pitch sequences and rhythms as well as to determine sight reading facility. The audition should take about 15 minutes.
The Columbine Chorale usually operates within a rehearsal and concert season that begins in early September and ends around the end of May. We generally rehearse Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 at Denver Waldorf School, 2100 S Pennsylvania Street (at Evans) in South Denver. The chorale also holds a half-day fall retreat and mid-winter retreat in the Denver area.
The Columbine Chorale affirms a strong commitment to providing its audiences with consistently high-quality performances of choral works through the interpretation of religious, secular and ethnic choral music from all parts of the world. Accordingly, the Chorale maintains a firm policy of non-exclusion of membership in the Chorale for any reason relating to race, creed, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, age, physical disability, veteran status or political affiliation.
The Columbine Chorale is governed by a board of directors elected annually to rotating 3 year terms plus two non-singing members. The board meets quarterly but communicates often via e-mail.
